Hello everyone!

My name is Jason Lavallée and I'm French Canadian from Quebec. I'm an Indiana Jones fan since my childhood but I discovered the Indiana Jones phenomenon in 2006 on the net. Before this period, I watching the Indiana Jones movies without questioning about the costumes, the artifacts and the famous fedora that Harrison ford wore. I have become passionate (borderline obsessed) by the hat in Raiders of the Lost Ark hat, precisely when Indy run in the Cairo. I bought many hats but I did not 100% satisfied and in the summer 2007, I have found a retired hatter in my region that is showing me the art of hat maker. I have learned to sculpt my own hat blocks.

Also, I'm glad to say that Herbert Johnson provided me in hats that I reworked to give the Streets of Cairo look. It's a honor for me to do business with them because it's Herbert Johnson who supplied the hats for the Indiana Jones trilogy in 80's and for several other movies. Also, Herbert Johnson has a long and prestigious story. The color of the felt and ribbon are perfect and had never change since 80's! Now, I have all my tools to confect a perfect replica of Raiders of the Lost Ark Hat.

Bonjour à tous !

Je m'appelle Jason Lavallée, je suis un Canadien français et plus précisément du Québec. Je suis fan d'Indiana Jones depuis ma plus tendre enfance, mais je n'ai découvert le phénomène Indiana Jones sur Internet qu'en 2005. Avant, je visionnais la trilogie une fois par mois, sans me poser de questions sur le costume, les artefacts, ou encore sur le fameux chapeau que porte Harrison Ford. Depuis, j'ai développé une véritable passion pour le chapeau "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (Les Aventuriers de L'arche Perdue) et plus précisément, dans sa version "Streets Of Cairo (SOC)" (Rues du Caire).

Je me suis acheté quelques chapeaux, mais malheureusement, je me suis très vite rendu compte que leur forme n'avait absolument rien à voir avec celle du Herbert Johnson que porte Harrison Ford dans le film.

Par un heureux hasard, quelques mois plus tard, lors d'un festival d'artisans de ma région, j'ai fait la connaissance d'une artisane qui fabriquait ses propres chapeaux en feutre pour dames. Je lui ai posé mille questions et surtout, je lui ai demandé si elle pouvait me donner une formation. Ce ne fut malheureusement pas possible par manque de temps, mais elle m'a donné les coordonnées d'une ancienne chapelière à la retraite. Aussi j'ai apris à fabriquer mes propres blocks à chapeaux. Je pouvais maintenant me créer une parfaite réplique de mon chapeau fétiche.

Maintenant, Herbert Johnson me fournit en chapeaux que je retravaille pour leur donner le look SOC. C'est un honneur pour moi de faire affaires avec eux, car cette prestigieuse société Anglaise a fourni les chapeaux de la trilogie originale. La couleur du feutre et du ruban est parfaite comme à l'époque !
